She felt his presence, warm and real beside her in bed.

Languidly, she opened her eyes, turned her head...and he was there.

A whispered word, along with the brush of her lips against his ear, would be sufficient to bring him to her. Urgent. Potent. But instead, she traced a finger ever so lightly up his muscled arm, along a broad shoulder and then across the wide expanse of his chest. Leaning forward, she placed her lips against his hard abdomen, adoring the way that with every inward breath warm skin rose to meet her waiting mouth. She smiled, her eyelids drifting downward as she inhaled deeply the arousing blend of spices that was so very male, so very much a part of him.

Lifting her head, she gazed at his face—so kind and so very peaceful in sleep.

She traced his handsome profile, down the slope of his strong forehead, over the aquiline bridge of his nose and then twice around the shape of a mouth made for her kisses. His breath warm against her hand, she slid a finger down to stroke his chin.

And suddenly, he moved.

He brought her fingers back to his lips and one by one sucked them sensuously into his mouth. She groaned at the moist, luscious heat of his tongue swirling around her fingertips. Leaning over him fully, she withdrew her fingers, gazed deeply into his eyes and lowered her lips to his.

Lips and tongues joined in a leisurely dance that grew more urgent as their mutual passion escalated. He turned, taking her beneath him, and as his powerful legs entwined with hers, she arched into him eagerly.

His lips left hers to place a string of small, sucking kisses along her neck and lower. His mouth opened on her naked breast, hot and wet, as he bit down gently on an aroused peak and then soothed the sweet hurt with slow flicks of his tongue. Sliding downward, his hands began an achingly familiar exploration, opening her, teasing her, wanting her...

Loving only her.

He filled her. Her core first stretching then contracting, she welcomed each of his deep, powerful thrusts.

And her heart sang as she moved against him, with him, around him.

Reaching out, she raised him from her breast and brought his lips to hers. Their tongues mated hungrily, a fitting complement to the joining of their bodies and hearts, their very souls.

He released her lips, and as she began to come apart, she opened her eyes to his–and was complete...

Jadzia gasped, sitting bolt upright in bed, blinking and breathing harshly. She put a shaky hand to her chest where her heart beat out a rapid rhythm. It had seemed so real this time. More like a treasured memory than the brief, readily forgotten flight of fancy the dream should have been.

That logic dictated it had to be.

She lay back against the pillows and turned to face the empty side of her big bed. Gently, almost reverently, she ran a hand over the cool sheets, absurdly disappointed that they had not somehow retained his imagined heat.

Expelling a breathy sigh, she turned back and pulled the covers closer about her as she felt unnaturally chilled and alone. More alone than she'd ever felt in her life.

All at once, desperate to hold on to the remnants of the haunting dream, she closed her eyes and willed herself to conjure up the vision once more. The memory of his touch, his kiss, and the strongest image of all—the undeniable love reflected in the most beautiful pair of eyes she'd ever seen.
